UIYB and Community Dance School Newsletter
My warmest welcome to returning students and families that have joined us this summer. Dance has been so many things to me over my life and now is the perfect time to reflect its value. The UIYB is not a competition studio and while we do build performance into our curriculum it is not our primary focus. Many of our students find they enjoy the physical effort and skill building, others the movement/music connection, still others the way they feel confident knowing the language, beauty and order of a ballet class. Students build relationships, hone self-discipline, form critical thinking, and practice patience as results take time and years of correction by supportive instructors. I am proud to be associated with the University of Iowa Youth Ballet and Community Dance School. Welcome to another year of challenge and growth.
Dancing in front of a computer screen may feel very different than being in the studio but it still demands the same amount of effort and respect. Let’s honor one another and our practice to the best of our ability. Please show up ready for class in your complete dress attire: ballet leotard, tights, shoes and hair held up appropriately.
