UIYB Ensemble - Spring Concert 2024
Performance Readiness Workshops - add these dates to your calendar
Pointe 1/2 - Pointe Shoe Prep Workshop: Monday, April 22 during class time
Bring two pairs of pointe shoes for tech/show week, liquid foundation, makeup sponges, and any additional supplies/accessories you need help with.
All Ensemble 3/4/5 - Hair/Makeup Workshop: Saturday, May 4 from 3:00-4:00 PM (extends rehearsal time by 30 minutes)
Bring all hair and makeup supplies.
Performance Supplies
Shoes
All Ensemble: skin tone ballet flats. *Individual dancers may be additionally asked to provide black or white shoes.
Pointe dancers: two prepared pairs with elastic ribbons sewn in a loop
Liquid foundation for pancaking shoes (anything affordable that matches your skin tone will work)
Makeup sponges
Undergarments
Skin tone (“nude”) dance undergarments (leotards or separates)

Some ensemble members will need to do quick costume changes backstage and will need appropriate undergarments for these times. Please contact dnc-communitydance@uiowa.edu for further guidance as needed.
Please do not purchase tights for this concert unless individually requested to do so.
Hair
Please do not dye hair an unnatural color before the concert (i.e bright blue).
Styles for long hair: half-up and French twist
Hair elastics (match hair color)
Hairpins (match hair color)
Recommended: MetaGrip Premium Hair Pins (available at Sally Beauty Supply and on Amazon)
Hairspray and gel/mousse as needed
Personal styling tools (brush, comb, spray bottle, etc.)
Short hair: styled firmly with mousse/gel away from face. Use pins/clips as needed.
Makeup
Makeup is intended to enhance dancers’ natural features so that faces have dimension under bright stage lights. Please use colors that enrich, rather than alter features (i.e. no neons, blues, etc.). No glitter, please.
Blush
Lip color (natural red, according to skin tone)
Eyeliner (brown/black)
Mascara (brown/black)
Eyeshadow (neutrals, i.e. browns, greys, pinks, tans, golds)
Setting Powder or Spray
Foundation (optional)
Contour (optional)
