Performance Supplies - Spring Concert
Shoes/Tights
All: Skin-tone ballet flats in good condition, no tights
Individual dancers may be asked to provide other shoes or tights for specific dances.
Recommended skin-tone flat shoes can be found at Discount Dance Supply. If purchasing from Discount Dance, please use UIYB's teacher code TP42039 to support the school. This helps by providing account credit when the school purchases costumes for performances.
Undergarments
All dancers should wear skin-tone (“nude”) dance undergarments (leotards or separates) under their costumes.
Dancers will need to do quick costume changes backstage and will need appropriate undergarments for these times. Please contact dnc-communitydance@uiowa.edu for further guidance as needed.
Hair
Please do not dye hair an unnatural color before the concert.
Hair elastics (match hair color)
Hairpins (match hair color)
Recommended: MetaGrip Premium Hair Pins (available at Sally Beauty Supply and on Amazon)
Hair nets (match hair color)
Hairspray and gel/mousse
Personal styling tools (brush, comb, spray bottle, etc.)
*Very short hair that does not make a bun should be styled firmly with mousse/gel away from the face. Use pins/clips as needed.
Makeup
Makeup enhances dancers’ natural features so that faces have dimension under bright stage lights. Please use colors and application styles that enrich, rather than alter features (i.e. no neons, blues, etc.). No glitter, please.
