Biography

Jacinta Hamilton is a student at the University of Iowa, pursuing a major in Elementary Education. She is the oldest of the seven children in her family, and she has enjoyed growing up dancing with her four younger sisters. She started her ballet journey with the University of Iowa Youth Ballet (UIYB) as a young dancer and is thrilled to be teaching the next generation of students. Jacinta is very happy that she can keep ballet a part of her life while incorporating her passion for teaching.

As an Iowa City native, Jacinta began her studies at Dance of Iowa before transitioning to the UIYB at age 5. Jacinta trained under Kathryn Smith at the UIYB and has fond memories of many recitals, particularly the Nutcracker. She trained with City Ballet of Iowa and Edith Ballet Academy, where she continued to learn and enjoy classical ballet. Jacinta underwent three American Ballet Theater (ABT) examinations as a dancer and appreciates the structure of this curriculum. Jacinta had the opportunity to mentor under Edith Barragán and assistant teach from a young age. Jacinta then returned to continue her training with the UIYB.
