The University of Iowa Youth Ballet and Community Dance School takes pride in efforts to integrate itself not only with the University of Iowa community, but with the Iowa City as a whole. An ongoing part of the Youth Ballet’s engagement with the community has been through collaboration with the Iowa City Public Library in the form of dance classes and performance events hosted at their downtown building.

Ensemble Performance at Iowa City Public Library

At 2:30 PM, April 20, 2024, The University of Iowa Youth Ballet and Community Dance School will hold its first interactive performance in Meeting Room A at the Iowa City Public Library. The school’s upper-level youth ensemble will present pieces from the upcoming spring concert, An Evening of Saint-Saëns. Following this demonstration, a children’s creative dance inspired by the pieces presented will be taught to any interested attendees. This event is free and open to the public. 

Upcoming Events

In July and August, the UI Youth Ballet and Community Dance School will be bringing back past beloved events for young children, How-To Tuesday: An Intro to Ballet and Creative Movement classes at the Iowa City Public Library. More information regarding these public events will be available on our website.  

The UI Youth Ballet and Community Dance School is passionate about bringing performance arts to the community. Every year, the annual spring concert brings joy to both performers and audiences.
