Dancers demonstrate self-respect by:

  • Arriving at the studio early and being fully prepared to begin class on time.
  • Wearing appropriate attire and the correct footwear for their class.
  • Keeping hair neatly secured away from the face and neck.

Dancers demonstrate respect for others by:

  • Maintaining personal space and refraining from touching others during class unless instructed otherwise.
  • Listening quietly and attentively while teacher is speaking/providing instructions.
  • Raising their hand to ask questions.
  • Being patient and composed while others take their turn.
  • Entering the studio quietly and only after the music has ended if arriving late.
  • Limiting conversations to before or after class, unless given permission by the teacher.
  • Speaking with kindness and consideration. Any threats or violence will result in expulsion without a refund.  

Dancers demonstrate respect for their teacher and the art of dance by:

  • Being punctual and properly dressed for class. Smart watches are not allowed.
  • Paying attention when the teacher is speaking.
  • Standing tall and attentive when receiving instructions or corrections.
  • Being ready and focused when it’s their turn.
  • Asking permission before leaving the room and re-entering quietly, avoiding disruption.
  • Approaching exercises with curiosity and enthusiasm.
  • Completing every exercise with focus and composure, without showing frustration or leaving abruptly.

Dancers demonstrate respect for the studio by:

  • Leaving gum and food outside the studio.
  • Avoiding leaning or hanging on the barres.
  • Walking calmly and never running inside the building.
  • Disposing of trash properly.
  • Returning props to their place after use.
  • Keeping all personal items inside their dance bag.
  • Caring for the dance space. Damage to university property and vandalism are not permitted. Families of responsible parties will be responsible for monetary damages. These actions may result in explusion or suspension without a refund.

Parents/Guardians show respect for the class, teacher, and studio by:

  • Making sure dancers are dressed and ready to begin class on time.
  • Ensuring dancers have eaten and hydrated before class.
  • Reminding dancers to use the restroom before class begins.
  • Waiting in designated areas or participating in Wee Dance as needed.
  • Attending observation days whenever possible.
  • Picking up dancers promptly after class ends.
  • Notifying the office in advance if a dancer will be absent.
  • Arranging make-up classes through the office.
  • Clearly labeling all belongings and leaving toys or valuables at home.
  • Encouraging children to do quiet activities while waiting for class.
  • Teaching children not to run or shout in the studio, waiting areas, or parking lot.

Teachers show respect for their students by:

  • Starting and ending classes on time.
  • Learning and using students’ names.
  • Providing encouragement and positive reinforcement.
  • Coming to class well-prepared.
  • Sharing their knowledge, love, and enthusiasm for dance with every student.
