Bea Beaman (they/them) is a Chinese American interdisciplinary artist from Shanghai, China. Growing up in the Chinese entertainment industry, they signed with EE-Media and Younger Generation Media and received training in C-Pop dance styles as an all-rounded entertainer. They came to the US to attend St. Olaf College in 2020 and have since discovered a love for choreography and partnering dance. Bea has trained with Pilobolus Dance Theater and now incorporates much of their creative and partnering philosophy into their choreography. While at St. Olaf College, they partook in residencies with Kyle Marshall, BRKFST Dance Company, Tumelo Khupe, Cynthia Gutierrez, as well as many faculty and student works. Before graduating, they co-founded and taught at Base & Perch Dance Company, which primarily works with partnering techniques.

Bea’s creative interests extend beyond dance. With experience in music production, lighting design, and various visual mediums, they enjoy creating works that span across artistic disciplines. Bea was a Stagecraft Apprentice at the American Dance Festival in 2024, which furthered their love for dance production and stage management.

Along with pursuing their MFA in Dance at the University of Iowa, Bea is closely engaged with the Iowa City community.
