Originally from Geneva, IL, Kate Olson grew up dancing at 3rd Street Dance and Theatre Academy, focusing on ballet, pointe, and lyrical dance styles. Some of her favorite roles while dancing at 3rd Street included the Bluebird in Sleeping Beauty and Clara in The Nutcracker. In high school, she began assisting and teaching in ballet, tap, and lyrical classes at 3rd Street and continues to teach there over the summers. Kate is a current undergraduate student at the University of Iowa, pursuing a BA in Elementary Education, and a minor in Dance. While at Iowa, she has had the opportunity to continue her ballet training under professors George de la Peña, Eloy Barragán, and Juliet Remmers, and visiting professor Danielle Russo. She is so excited about the opportunity to share her love of dance with the dancers at UIYB and can’t wait to watch them grow.
